The work of Laurie McAmmond, a water colour artist in Victoria BC, is an exploration of vibrant and transparent west coast landscapes. She isn’t simply replicating landscape however, but using water and pigment to describe the energy and light of the natural world.
Instead of seeing straight on, she focuses with a slightly slanted myopic vision to capture the moment that just passed.
She paints iteratively letting the work develop it’s own harmony and meaning. Laurie has a small studio which she shares with other artists who are all striving to develop the skill and freedom to express what they find to be beautiful.
